Girlz II Women: Talk about Work
When? Saturday, July 12, 2008 9 a.m. – Lunch (Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m.)
Where? University of Missouri-St. Louis (J.C. Penney Building Conference Center)
What? Opportunity for students to:
· Discuss their own work experiences while in school and during the summer
· Talk to women workers from Iraq*, Central America* and the United States who are employed in a variety of occupations
· Participate in an interactive workshop, “Eyes on the Fries: Young Workers in the Service Economy,” to explore how the economy relates to our day-to-day lives
· Meet women workers who are involved in making positive changes through their unions at work and in their communities
*Six Iraqi women and one Guatemalan woman, all of whom are actively working to improve the lives of women workers in their home countries, will be in St. Louis attending the Midwest School for Women Workers.
This program is FREE –including lunch, program certificate and conference t-shirt.
